Keyboard Adventures will introduce your child to the joy of making music at the piano/keyboard! Children in our classes often run into the room, hardly able to wait to play the songs they've been hearing, drumming, singing, and dancing. Lessons at the keyboard in small groups allow the children to experience the delight in making music with others, while at the same time, encouraging the development of rhythmic competency, listening skills, singing, and music-reading.

Keyboard Adventures is designed to prepare your child’s ear, body and mind for Music Makers at the Keyboard, Year 1 in the fall. This is a comprehensive musicianship class, designed to begin the process of building a solid foundation in music literacy, which means we’re not just at the piano but also singing, moving, drumming, discovering musical patterns, playing instruments and playing the piano. Music Makers: At Home in the World (Ages 4-5 years)

28 wks (Fall and Spring Semesters)

Prepare your child for instrumental study by developing rhythm and pitch in your child’s first instrument – their ear, body and voice. This school year program establishes the foundation for music literacy through sequential teaching, allowing for ample development of their young minds, bodies and fingers while developing musicality. New students are generally accepted only in the Fall and complete the school year as concepts and skills are built gradually. A parent is invited to attend the last 15 minutes of each class with the child in order to be supportive of the music development.

Music Makers At Home for 4-5 year olds:
In this school year sequential curriculum, musical children are built through singing, playing musical games, learning circle dances, using movement to express music and stories. Games and songs with rhythm instruments develop rhythm while tonality is built with melodic instruments. Orchestral instruments are also introduced. Most importantly, the child’s ear is trained as well as their body and voice become more coordinated, all in preparation for later music making. Family Materials include a CD or music downloads, notation cards, & booklet in a poster folder. Each seven weeks we explore different habitat environments through musical activities including:

  • My Home Place
  • Woodlands
  • Cattail Marsh
  • Meadow
Classes meet 60 minutes weekly, for 28 weeks, & begin only in the fall.

Tuition:$245 per 14 wk semester
Materials:$67 per 14 wk semester
